Why Not Me?

First, I have to disclose that I stole this line from my mentor, David Hochman. He is one of the best things that happened to me in 2014. David, has written and spoken about “Why not me” theory. I would like this years New Year’s post to shine a light on this question. New Year’s resolutions are passe and who really sticks to them? Let’s change our thought process and focus on living our best lives. Make goals not resolutions. Validate your success and desires with, “Why not me?” Let the games begin…

I first heard “Why not me” a few months ago from Mr. Hochman. The concept is quite brilliant and simple. Validating yourself and desires and taking action. Not allowing fear to be the driver in your journey through life. Yes, you can be the person that sells a story to The New York Times, starts your own business, receives a promotion with a salary increase… it can happen! The “Why not me” theory forces you to accept that you are worthy of success. A lot of us allow our fears to overcome our desires and we fall short. I fall into the fear department. I see other people with their success and want my own too! That inner voice is saying, you’re not good enough, pretty enough or have the intelligence. Forget that! I am putting that voice into early retirement as of yesterday! Let’s all begin the new year with, “Why not me” and make things happen. Set goals, take risks and follow your heart. I am worthy of all the good things I want in my life and so are  you! As my mentor would say: “thumb slam”! (link to David Hochman’s Tedx Why not me talk)

I read this quote from The Secret and believe it to be true:

“Do you want to know how to make 2015 the best year of your life? Do whatever you can to feel good! When you feel good, life will be good. The better you feel, the better life will get! Think about, talk about, and focus on the areas of your life that make you feel good. When you do this one simple thing, everything will improve, whether that’s a better job, better relationships, health, or money. Make feeling as good as you can your number one priority for 2015, and it will bthe best year of your life!”

Cheers to an amazing 2015!
