Once I learned how to make whipped cream this Summer, it’s been a whipped cream fest at House of Squirrels headquarters. I want to put it on everything! I am eager to have dinner parties so I can make my Berry Zert with my delicious whipped cream! This is a great go-to dessert because it’s pretty healthy and refreshing after a dinner. The Chi’s like it too….their whipped cream mustaches are picture perfect! 🙂
What you need:
Strawberries, blackberries, and rasberries. (Use any type of berry or peaches)
Powdered Sugar
Vanilla extract
Limes
Whipping Cream
Cinnamon Graham Crackers
Using a large bowl, slice and clean berries, then toss with sprinkled powdered sugar (Regular sugar is fine too). Cut one lime and squeeze into bowl. Mix it up, cover, and put in refrigerator. Leave in until you are ready to serve. This is important for the berries to meld with the sugar and lime. It creates a juiciness that you want when you’re ready to serve to your guests.
Use a silver bowl and keep in the refrigerator before you make your whipped cream. This helps with making the whipped cream easier. Pour a quart of whipping cream into the bowl and mix (Use a handheld mixer or whisk). I use a electric mixer, much faster and it’s the Squirrel way. Â Mix the whipped cream until it starts to become thick then add a couple tablespoons of powdered sugar. (Add more sugar to your like). Next, put a few drops of vanilla extract in and continue to mix until fluffy, as seen in the picture below.
When you are ready to serve, pull both bowls out of the refrigerator. Put a scoop of berries, then a layer of whipped cream, and repeat. Â Squirrel Tip: Use cinnamon graham crackers to crumble and sprinkle on top. This adds a dimension that you will not want to skip. The crunch is a must in this Berry Zert!
I have been serving this recipe all Summer. Dr. Squirrel made it for a dinner party too and it was a huge hit! Â The cinnamon graham cracker crumble brings this dessert to another level. Easy for a novice cook, this berry surprise will have your guests thinking you went to a top culinary school!
